Webflow, WordPress or custom code: how to choose
There is no single best platform for every website. The right choice depends on who will use the site, what it needs to do and how it will change over time.
Start with who edits the site
If your team will update pages, publish posts and change copy often, choose a platform with an editor they are comfortable using. A site that only a developer can change quickly becomes a bottleneck.
When Webflow fits
Webflow suits marketing sites where design control and motion matter, and where a visual editor for the team is a priority.
When WordPress fits
WordPress suits content heavy sites, blogs, and sites that need a wide range of plugins or custom content types. It is also a natural choice when your team already knows it.
When custom code fits
Custom code suits web applications and products where the site is more than a set of pages, such as portals, dashboards and booking systems, or where the workflow is unusual enough that off the shelf tools get in the way.
Questions to ask before you decide
- Who will edit the site day to day?
- How many pages and how much content will it have?
- Does it need accounts, payments or bookings?
- Which tools does it need to connect to?
- Who will maintain it after launch?
